Monsoon commute checklist

A monsoon commute is a rain, waterlogging, food, footwear, and reset problem.

Monsoon commuting can turn a normal route into wet shoes, delays, waterlogging, slippery surfaces, crowded vehicles, food questions, and arrival fatigue.

Use this page as a broad checklist before and after travel. Do not use it for route advice, fever triage, floodwater exposure decisions, medicines, electrolyte protocols, or emergency routing.

// MEDICAL + PRIVACY NOTEThis guide is educational commute prep. It does not diagnose, treat, triage fever or floodwater exposure, recommend medicines or products, set route advice, collect location or symptom data, or replace local emergency instructions.

Official alerts

1. Check rain and local alert context

Before leaving, official weather and civic alerts are more useful than confidence.

  • Is there an IMD or local alert that affects timing?
  • Are municipal or workplace messages changing the route or arrival expectation?
  • Can this commute wait, shift earlier, or move to a safer option?
Wet commute

2. Pack for wet clothes, not hero mode

The boring kit is the point: dry layer, bag protection, footwear traction, and phone-power safety without turning it into a product funnel.

  • Can I keep essentials dry without buying another gadget?
  • Are footwear grip and wet socks going to be a problem?
  • Do I have a simple plan for drying off after arrival?
Waterlogging

3. Reduce water, slip, electrical, and crowding exposure

Waterlogged roads, slippery platforms, exposed electrical hazards, moving water, and crowding deserve caution. This page cannot pick your route.

  • Am I avoiding flooded or fast-moving water where possible?
  • Are there electrical, debris, or slip hazards that make waiting smarter?
  • Is crowding increasing the risk of rushing into a bad decision?
Food and water

4. Keep commute food boring

Rain can make food, water, hand hygiene, and tiffin timing messier. Keep the questions simple and avoid ranking vendors from one bad meal.

  • Is drinking water from a safe source?
  • Is food covered, stored, and handled sensibly?
  • Did floodwater contact make this food or container a bad idea?

Keep the list practical and low-data. The goal is a clearer next decision, not a private health dossier.
